 A LITTLE ABOUT ME

John William Curley is an American author of historical fiction/gothic romance infused with healthy doses of the supernatural. His experiences as an avid traveler, particularly in Europe, have resulted in the incorporation of cultural and historical elements in his novels. John grew up as a fan of writers such as W.B. Yeats and Leon Uris while he honed his own skills through the study of English and writing in college. During this period, he was awarded the annual English and Poetry award at his respective school. His first novel, Passages of Sorrow, was originally published in 2007 and reissued in 2017. The Sea Giveth followed with a release in 2015 and reached Amazon's top 50 in the Gothic Romance ebook genre. Lady Agnes Black is his latest release. John is currently working on a fourth novel tentatively entitled When A Rose Last Bloomed In Rasnov as well as a sequel to Passages of Sorrow.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We thought it would be fun here to ask the author a few questions that he is routinely asked. If your curiosities aren't quenched in this little section, feel free to reach the author using the contact tab at the top of the screen.

Q- What genre would your books be categorized as?
A- My aim is to write a good story regardless of genre. I am not afraid to delve into new frontiers. My main goal is to produce a strong final product.

Q- Which one of your novels is your favorite?
A- I can't answer that. They are all my children.

Q- Which was the most difficult to write?
A- Lady Agnes Black. The various story lines were difficult to interweave especially based on time frames.

Q- Why was the last name Black used in both Passages of Sorrow and Lady Agnes Black?
A- This was purely coincidental. I didn't even think of it until it was pointed out to me. As far as I know, the families are unrelated!

Q- What do you love most about writing?
A- The creativity. I like playing god to my characters and I am often unmerciful.

Q- What do you hate most about writing?
A- I would say the "tech" part that is important in this day and age. I also hate begging people for reviews. So, if you have something nice to say about my novels, please save me from the indignity of asking.

Q- What is in store for the future?
A- You will have to join my newsletter to find out. Joking! However, I will give it a plug by saying that it will be the source that lets you know before your friends. I was working on a novel tentatively entitled When A Rose Last Bloomed in Rasnov. The setting is Romania but it is not about vampires (thankfully). Due to popular demand (well, moderate anyways), I have started work on the sequel to Passages of Sorrow. Many of you have asked about the fate of the main character. Soon you will find out!
